Police arrest murder suspect at Kibi

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old carpenter, identified as Kwame Arhin, popularly known as Abompe, in connection with the alleged murder of a security guard at Kibi in the Eastern Region.

According to the Police, the suspect was apprehended on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in a bush near the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education after an intensive search operation.

The arrest followed a distress call received on Saturday, November 15, 2025, reporting the murder of a man at Kibi Newtown. Police promptly deployed a team of detectives and the Crime Scene Management Unit to the crime scene located near the Kibi Court Complex.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of a male adult, later identified as Jonas Baah Sarpong, a security guard at the Kibi Presbyterian College of Education. The crime scene was meticulously processed, and the body was first transported to the Kibi Government Hospital morgue before being transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a misunderstanding reportedly ensued between the deceased and the suspect, during which Kwame Arhin allegedly slashed the victim’s throat with a cutlass and fled the scene.

The suspect is currently in police custody and being processed for court as further investigations continue.
