Ghana Begins Immediate Evacuation of Citizens from Iran Amid Escalating Conflict

In a swift and decisive move aimed at protecting Ghanaian nationals, the Mahama Administration has announced the immediate evacuation of all Ghanaians residing in Iran. The decision comes in the wake of heightened hostilities between Israel and Iran, posing significant risks to civilians in the region.

According to an official government statement released today, the evacuation exercise will involve Ghanaian diplomats, students, professionals, and other citizens currently living in Iran. The evacuation is being conducted through land borders due to security concerns in the region.

As part of the emergency measures, Ghana’s Embassy in Tehran has been shut down indefinitely to ensure the safety of diplomatic staff. “The protection of Ghanaian lives remains our utmost priority,” the government emphasized.

In light of the evolving situation in the Middle East, the government also announced that operations at Ghana’s Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, will be scaled down to the barest minimum. Citizens currently residing in Israel have been strongly advised to maintain regular communication with Ghana’s Consular Department for updates and further guidance.

The government assured that all necessary steps are being taken to keep Ghanaian nationals safe. “No effort will be spared in ensuring the well-being and protection of Ghanaians abroad,” the statement noted.

Meanwhile, the Government of Ghana has renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Iran. It urged both nations to explore diplomatic avenues and resolve the conflict peacefully to avoid further loss of life and regional instability.

The situation continues to be monitored closely, with further updates expected in the coming days.
