Ghana Armwrestling Federation Hosts Independence Battle in Northern Region

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) is set to thrill sports fans in the Northern Region with an exciting Independence Armwrestling Battle scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2026.

The competition will take place at Tamale Zion School premises, Kukuo, behind De Shallot’s Eatery, starting at 9:00 a.m. The event forms part of activities marking Ghana’s independence celebrations, bringing together athletes, supporters, and sports enthusiasts for a day of strength, skill, and national pride.

Promoting the Sport in Northern Ghana

The Independence Battle is expected to attract top armwrestlers from across the region and beyond. Organizers say the event is aimed at promoting armwrestling at the grassroots level while discovering and nurturing new talent in the Northern Region.

Officials of the federation have reiterated their commitment to expanding the sport nationwide, particularly in underserved communities, by organizing competitive platforms that showcase discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship.

Community Engagement and Youth Development

Beyond the competition, the event is also expected to serve as a platform to engage the youth positively and encourage participation in structured sporting activities. Spectators will have the opportunity to witness intense matchups as competitors battle for supremacy in various weight categories.
