GHS urges empowerment of local pharmaceutical companies to produce NTD medications

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has called for local resource mobilization and empowerment of indigenous pharmaceutical companies to produce medications for the treatment of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in Ghana. Dr. Joseph Kwadwo Larbi Opare, Programme Manager of the NTD Programme at GHS, said there was the need for local resources to support the treatment of NTDs, especially as international funding may eventually cease. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Dr. Opare explained that the NTD programme had historically lacked local support, particularly in Mass Drug Administration (MDA). Minister-Designate vows to end undervaluation of public lands in Ghana

Canadian murder case adjourned to February 27, awaiting jury directive

An Accra High Court has adjourned the case of Safina Mohammed Adizatu, accused of murdering her Canadian boyfriend, to February 27, 2025. The delay is due to the court awaiting directives from the Chief Justice regarding the empaneling of a seven-member jury. Safina, also known as Safina Diamond, a student, has denied the charge of murder and is currently on bail. The prosecution's case states that on July 24, 2022, Frank Kofi Osei, a Ghanaian resident in Canada, visited Safina at her residence in Ashalley Botwe School Junction, where they spent the night.
