MTN Foundation,Ghana Supports the Blood Banks

GNFS, North Dakota National Guard train personnel to manage harzadous materials   

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in collaboration with the North Dakota National Guard, has successfully concluded a week-long hazardous materials (hazmat) training for 55 selected security officers.    The programme, held at the GNFS Headquarters in Accra, saw 45 GNFS officers, five Ghana Armed Forces personnel, and five National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) officers equipped with critical skills to effectively manage hazardous materials during emergencies.   Participants engaged in both theoretical and practical simulations and were taken through the identification of hazardous substances, chemical properties, emergency response protocols, and decontamination procedures to reinforce their ability to respond to real-world incidents.   Mr Jul...

MTN Ghana replenishes blood banks in Upper East

MTN Ghana, a leading mobile telecommunication network has organised a blood donation exercise in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, to help replenish blood banks of health facilities. The exercise which formed part of MTN Ghana’s Foundation’s project dubbed “Save a Life,” was part of efforts to restock the blood banks of the health facilities in the region, particularly the Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga, to help save lives and effectively respond to emergencies. Fire incidents in Western Region down by 12 per cent in 2024

The Western Region recorded a decline in fire incidents last year by 12 per cent from 361 cases in 2023 to 317 in 2024. Reports from the Western Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) showed that there was also a decrease in fire-related injuries and fatalities from 184 injuries in 2023 to 30 in 2024. The number of fire related death also reduced from 20 in 2023 to 14 in 2024. Hundreds participate in MTN Ghana Foundation’s blood donation exercise

Hundreds of people in the Central Region, including students, on Friday participated in the MTN Ghana Foundation’s annual blood donation exercise held to commemorate Valentine’s Day. The “Save a Life” blood donation exercise aimed at supporting the National Blood Service and restock regional blood banks, had so far, collected more than 29,000 blood units since 2011. The Foundation's target is to collect more than 6,100 units of blood across the country this year alone, the highest since the intervention started. COHBS demand immediate payment of responsibility allowance arrears by March

The Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (COHBS) in the Volta Region has called on the government to settle all outstanding responsibility allowance arrears for headteachers by the end of March 2025. At a press conference in Ho, Mr Vincent Gordor Stephen, the Volta Regional Chairman of COHBS, said he was worried that nearly one-third of headteachers in the region have been denied their rightful allowances for years, significantly affecting their morale and commitment. “It is unacceptable that headteachers, who bear the heavy responsibility of managing schools, are being denied their due allowances.
