Asantehene to conclude mediation in Bawku chieftaincy conflict on November 30 and December 1

The Manhyia Palace has announced that His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has scheduled November 30 and December 1, 2025, for what is expected to be the final phase of his mediation efforts in the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy conflict.

A statement signed by Kofi Badu, Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, revealed that the Asantehene has been leading a series of peace mediation meetings aimed at restoring lasting peace to the Bawku area, which has faced intermittent tensions over chieftaincy disputes.

His Majesty commended all parties involved for their positive and cooperative approach throughout the mediation process. He further appealed to stakeholders, community members, and supporters from both sides to refrain from any actions that could undermine the progress made so far towards a peaceful resolution.

The Asantehene’s intervention is part of his broader commitment to national peacebuilding and unity, leveraging his respected traditional authority and moral influence to help reconcile divided communities.

The Manhyia Palace expressed optimism that the upcoming sessions will lead to a lasting and mutually acceptable settlement to the conflict, ensuring peace, development, and harmony return to Bawku and its surrounding areas.
