A coordinated, intelligence-led nighttime operation in the Dawhenya area of the Ningo-Prampram Constituency has led to the arrest of 48 suspected cybercrime operatives, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation and Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Mr. Samuel Nartey George, has announced.
According to the Minister, the operation was carried out by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in collaboration with National Security and the Ghana Police Service, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organised cybercrime networks operating within Ghana.
Preliminary interrogation indicates that the suspects—46 males and two females—are believed to be Nigerian nationals. Investigations suggest they are linked to several cyber-related criminal activities, including romance scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes, and illegal online gold trading.

Security operatives retrieved a significant cache of digital equipment during the raid, including 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one Starlink internet device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers, all believed to have been used in perpetrating the alleged crimes.
Mr. George reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s digital space, stating that intelligence-driven “surgical strikes” will continue to be deployed against cybercrime syndicates.
“Ghana welcomes everyone who seeks to engage in legitimate enterprise,” he emphasized. “However, we will remain a hostile domain for cyber criminals who attempt to exploit our digital ecosystem.”
The Minister also commended the professionalism and dedication of the security operatives involved in the operation, describing their conduct as a reflection of the global standards for which Ghana’s security services are recognised.

He concluded with a message to the public, wishing Ghanaians a “merry digital Christmas and a cybercrime-free New Year,” while assuring citizens of sustained action to protect the country’s cyberspace.
