The mourning period, according to the statement, is intended to provide a time for “national reflection and remembrance,” as the country grieves the profound loss.

The programme of activities is as follows:

  • Thursday, August 7, 2025: A public laying of flowers and lighting of candles will take place at the Ceremonial Garden in front of the Presidency, beginning at 1:00 PM. • Friday, August 8, 2025: The laying of flowers and lighting of candles will continue, offering more citizens the opportunity to pay their respects.
  • Saturday, August 9, 2025: The mourning period will conclude with an “Evening of Reflections and Memorials” at the Forecourt of the State House starting at 5:00 PM. The event is expected to bring together Ghanaians from all walks of life to honour the legacies of the fallen officials.

“These three days offer our nation a vital opportunity to collectively mourn and reflect on the profound loss we have experienced,” the statement emphasized, urging citizens to observe the period with “dignity and respect.”

The government added that further details concerning the State Funeral and other related arrangements will be communicated in due course through official government channels.
