A total of 43,503 people in Oforikrom constituency fail to vote in the December 07 elections
A whopping number of 43,503 registered voters in the Oforikrom constituency in the Ashanti region, failed to exercise their franchise during the December 07 general elections.
This represents 37.35 per cent of the 116,455 registered voters who were expected to vote in the elections.
On the elections day however, a total of 72,952 people came out to cast their ballot to elect their Member of Parliament and a President for Ghana.
Of this, 356 ballots were rejected by the Electoral Commission (EC), leaving 72,596 valid votes cast during the elections.
Mr Michael Kwasi Aidoo, a first-time applicant on the ticket of the NPP, was elected as the new Member of Parliament for the constituency.
