High Court of Ghana  Hands Life Sentence to Serial Killer

The High Court of Ghana sitting in Wa has sentenced Shariff Abdulai, popularly known as “Cristos,” to life imprisonment with hard labour for the murder of Issah Yahaya and twenty-two (22) other persons across parts of northern Ghana. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, after the accused pleaded guilty to multiple counts of murder. Guilty Plea in Open Court Shariff Abdulai admitted to killing sixteen (16) people in Wa, five (5) in Bole, and one (1) each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi. His arrest followed sustained, intelligence-led police operations on October 6, 2025. Salifu Nko-nya, a 20-year-old Computer Science student at the University for Development Studies (UDS), has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Tamale High Court presided by Charles Acheampong after being found guilty of murdering a male colleague student over a female student. The convict was the ex-boyfriend of the female student who had ended their relationship and was in a new relationship with the deceased, Mohammed Zakiu Wunpini, 19-year-old Pharmacy student of the University for Development Studies. Kumasi High Court Jails Notorious Armed Robber for 120 Years, Adds Life Sentence for Murder

The Kumasi High Court has convicted and sentenced 36-year-old Dominic Afriyie, also known as “GH,” to 120 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for robbery, in addition to a life sentence for murder. Presided over by Justice Abdul Razak, the court found Afriyie guilty of attacking and killing pharmacist and building contractor, Michael Dela Agbo Klu, during a robbery at Atasemanso in Kumasi on November 20, 2021. The convict forcibly entered the residence of Mr. Klu and his family, stole two mobile phones, an ASUS Zenbook laptop, and GH¢1,500, before fatally shooting the 43-year-old homeowner.
