Ghana Extends Condolences to Jamaica Following Devastating Hurricane Melissa
The Government of Ghana has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and widespread devastation in Jamaica caused by Hurricane Melissa, a powerful Category 5 storm that struck the Caribbean nation on Tuesday, 28th October 2025.
In an official statement issued in Accra, President John Dramani Mahama extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Jamaica. Through a diplomatic note sent to Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, President Mahama conveyed Ghana’s sympathy to the bereaved families, wished the injured a speedy recovery, and expressed solidarity with all those left homeless by the disaster.
