Two Immigration Officers Shot in Tempani District-One Dead, One Injured

A tragic incident has struck the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) after two of its officers were shot by unknown assailants at Nangani in the Tempani District of the Upper East Region on Sunday night. According to a statement from the Service, the officers — Assistant Immigration Control Officer I (AICO I) Philip Lartey and AICO I Cosmos Dakurah — were ambushed and shot while returning from duty on a motorbike around 8:30 p.m. Both officers sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the Busonde Clinic in Tempani for initial medical care before being transferred to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for further treatment. POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR TRICYCLE RIDER WHO ASSAULTED OFFICER IN GARU

The Upper East Regional Police Command has begun investigations into an incident in which a police officer was physically assaulted by a commercial tricycle rider at Garu in the Upper East Region. According to a police statement signed by Chief Inspector Abdul-Rahman Sumaila of the Public Affairs Department, the incident occurred on October 6, 2025, when a team of police officers and Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) were conducting a stop-and-search operation along the Garu–Nakpanduri road. During the exercise, the team intercepted a tricycle loaded with sacks of groundnuts and passengers seated on top.
