Court Remands Suspect Over Alleged Attempted Murder and Causing Harm

The Berekum Circuit Court has remanded a suspect, Emmanuel Yeboah, into police custody for his alleged involvement in offences of attempted murder and causing harm. The court, presided over by His Honour Mr. Osei Kofi Amoako Esq., made the order following the suspect’s appearance in court in connection with an attack that left two people seriously injured. According to the Bono Regional Police Command, Emmanuel Yeboah was arrested on 3rd January 2026 after police received a report of a violent incident involving his brother and his brother’s wife. The victims reportedly sustained multiple injuries during the attack. Catholic Priest cautions health workers against excessive use of mobile phones on duty  

The Berekum Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Bono Region has held its 27th matriculation with a call on health workers to limit excessive use of mobile phones on duty.   The Most Reverend Mathew Kwasi Gyamfi, the Catholic Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese, who made the call, said a limit on the use of phones would prevent the risk to the lives of patients.   A total of 321 fresh students were matriculated to pursue various health related courses for the 2024/2025 academic year.   Addressing the matriculation ceremony at Berekum, Most Rev Gyamfi, also the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference, said it was unfortunate that many health workers, particularly nurses, were always glued to their mobile phones on duty.   Th...

Berekum Police investigate ‘Thursday Market’ robbery

Police in Berekum are investigating a robbery that took place at a shop at the Berekum 'Thursday Market' in the Bono Region. Thieves broke into the provision shop and made away with undisclosed sums of money and other valuables on Thursday night February 6, 2025. A police source who confirmed the incident told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that no arrest had since been made and police investigations were on-going. Madam Grace Ama, the shop owner, told the GNA that the thieves also damaged the shop’s ceiling, and appealed to the public to provide any information they received in connection with the theft to aid police investigations.
