Multiple award-winning Ghanaian artist and global music icon, Stonebwoy, has boldly declared himself the originator of the Afro-Dancehall genre, a dynamic fusion of African music styles and traditional Dancehall rhythms. In a celebratory post shared across his official social media platforms, the BHIM Nation president called for the moment to be “etched in the books of history.”
“AFRO-DANCEHALL To The World And Beyond…” Stonebwoy wrote, proudly reaffirming his pivotal role in shaping and popularizing the genre that continues to captivate audiences worldwide. He acknowledged the continuous contributions of African artists blending rich African music elements — such as Highlife, Hiplife, Juju, Bongo Flava, Amapiano, and Afrobeats — with core Dancehall foundations to birth a genre uniquely African and universally appealing.
The artist also expressed deep gratitude to @billboardhiphop for their recognition of the genre’s growing influence, noting that such acknowledgments serve as powerful motivation for upcoming creatives.

“Thanks for the recognition. This will inspire many more youths to create in freedom in the name of AFRO-DANCEHALL,” he said, highlighting the genre’s role as a cultural movement that empowers young African voices and storytellers.
Fellow Afro-Dancehall artist moliy music also received praise in the post for continuously “shaking it to the max ,” as Stonebwoy acknowledged the growing community of artists pushing the sound to new boundaries.
Stonebwoy, known for his global hits and genre-bending collaborations, has long blended Afrocentric rhythms with Caribbean influences, earning accolades both at home and abroad — including a BET Award, VGMA Artiste of the Year, and international tours that have brought African Dancehall to mainstream stages.
With this public declaration, Stonebwoy further cements his legacy not just as a performer, but as a cultural pioneer at the forefront of Africa’s global musical revolution.
