Profile of Kwame Governs Agbodza, Roads and Highways Minister-designate

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to serve as Minister for Roads and Highways.

According to the release, Mr Agbodza is an excellent candidate for the position because of his extensive background in both politics and professional practice. Mr. Agbodza is a well-known politician and architect from Ghana who has a wealth of experience in project management and architectural design. He graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and continued his education in the UK at Westminster and East London universities. His professional experience has been crucial in completing well-known projects in a variety of industries.

Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza has been a legislator in the Parliament of Ghana since

  1. He is a dis?nguished Chartered Architect in good standing in the Built
    Environment in the United Kingdom and Ghana.
    His professional exper?se covers project management, infrastructure planning,
    financing, procurement and construc?on.
    Hon. Agbodza is a Chartered Architect with membership of both the Royal Ins?tute of Bri?sh Architects and the
    Ghana Ins?tute of Architects.
    He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and
    Technology (KNUST), a Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture from the East London University, UK and
    Professional Prac?ce Qualifica?on in Architecture from the University of Westminster, UK.
    Hon. Agbodza is a member of the pres?gious Architects Registra?on Board (ARB) of the United Kingdom and
    the Architects Registra?on Council (ARC), Ghana.
    Since 2013, he has dis?nguished himself as the honourable Member of Parliament for the Adaklu Cons?tuency
    in the Volta Region.
    In January 2023, Hon. Agbodza was elevated to the posi?on of Minority Chief Whip in Parliament. He served as
    the Vice Chairman and Ranking Member of the Roads and Transport CommiZee of Parliament. He was also a
    member of the Environment, Science and Technology and other commiZees of Parliament.
    As a professional architect, he has led several cu[ng-edge consultancy services in Ghana and abroad on many
    public and private infrastructure projects.
    Hon Agbodza has been widely acknowledged for his diligent oversight on the Roads and Transport commiZee
    of Parliament and his dis?nguished advocacy on road safety, inclusive building standards and environmentally-
    sustainable construc?on.
    He has vast experience in the review and approval of Financing and Contract agreements between Ghana and
    developers on infrastructure-related projects
