The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, his government, and the families of the eight men who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, the church described the deceased as “gallant men” and expressed deep sorrow over the national tragedy.
“We join you in mourning this great loss and assure you of our continuous prayers and unwavering support during this difficult time,” the statement read.

Quoting scripture, the church prayed that “the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles… strengthen you and surround you with His peace.”
The message also expressed hope that God’s abiding presence would sustain the bereaved and that the promise of resurrection would bring renewed strength “until that glorious day when we are reunited with our beloved brothers at the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The August 6 incident has plunged the nation into mourning, with tributes pouring in from various institutions and individuals in honor of the late cabinet ministers, government officials, and military officers.
