A police bodyguard has foiled a suspected robbery try at the residence of a Court of Appeal Judge in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at about 11:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
Preliminary investigations show that two suspects, identified as Patrick Alor, 23, and Akwasi Gyamfi, 21, allegedly scaled the fence wall of the judge’s residence armed with cutlasses and a pair of scissors. The suspects reportedly attempted to forcibly open the judge’s private vehicle after gaining access to the compound.

Nonetheless, their activities were detected by the on-duty police bodyguard, whose vigilance led to a swift response.
During efforts to arrest the suspects, police say the two men attempted to disarm the officer. Acting in self-defense and in line with standard operational procedures, the bodyguard discharged his firearm. The suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs—one to the left leg and the other to the right leg.
They were promptly transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, where they are now receiving treatment under police guard. Authorities say both suspects are responding to treatment.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has commended the officer’s alertness, professionalism, and bravery. They noted that his prompt action prevented an escalation into a serious incident.
Police have assured the public of their continued commitment to protecting members of the judiciary and all citizens. The Command also urged residents to be vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
