POLICE ARREST THREE SUSPECTS FOR GOLD ROBBERY AT WASSA AFRANSIE

The Western Central Regional Police Command, through an intelligence-led operation, has arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery incident at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region.

The suspects — Felix Adjei, alias Africa or Nana Adjei; Emmanuel Kelvin, a Nigerian national; and Kofi Appiah, alias Kesse — are alleged to have robbed employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited of gold valued at GHS 199,000.00, along with other valuables.

Preliminary investigations reveal that on 4th April 2025, Kofi Appiah, a driver for the company, and another employee, Emmanuel Adu, were returning from Wassa Ayiem after collecting a quantity of gold from a client when armed men suddenly emerged from the bush and fired warning shots. The assailants made away with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla, which was later found abandoned in a nearby community.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Kofi Appiah at his residence in Wassa Akropong on 21st April 2025. The two other suspects were subsequently arrested at their respective hideouts.

During the operation, the police retrieved from the suspects:

  • One Jojeff pump-action gun with butt number 168316
  • One Calymm PDS pistol without a serial number
  • Twenty-five rounds of 9mm ammunition
  • One AA cartridge
  • Two G3 ammunitions
  • One locally manufactured pistol
  • An amount of GHS 65,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the robbery

The three suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. They will be processed through the legal system to face justice.
