Police Arrest Four Over Alleged Assault at Ashongman Estate

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects in connection with an alleged assault incident at Ashongman Estate involving officials of a microfinance company.

According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the arrests were made by the Kwabenya District Police Command as part of ongoing investigations into the case.

Police say the incident was reported on March 13, 2026, by a 42-year-old woman, Madam Hagar Emaser. She alleged that four men, identified as officials of Bill’s Microfinance—where she had obtained a loan—visited her residence to demand repayment. During the encounter, the suspects allegedly assaulted her.

The following day, March 14, 2026, the four suspects—Denis Wornyo, 38; Albert Amarh, 40; Ebenezer Amartei, 23; and Atsu Lawson, 27—were arrested by police.

Authorities confirmed that caution statements have been taken from all four individuals, who remain in police custody assisting with investigations.

The Accra Regional Police Command has urged victims of assault and other criminal acts to promptly report such incidents to the police to enable swift investigation and action.

The Command also advised the public to resolve disputes, particularly those related to loan transactions or other civil matters, through lawful and peaceful means rather than resorting to violence.
