Her Excellency Lordina Dramani Mahama has joined Melania Trump and other global First Ladies at the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit held in Washington, D.C., where leaders convened to address the growing need to protect children in the digital age.
Speaking on behalf of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development, Mrs Mahama expressed her appreciation to Mrs Trump for organising what she described as a “timely and impactful” summit focused on safeguarding children against online risks.
Highlighting Ghana’s commitment to digital child protection, Mrs Mahama outlined several national interventions aimed at promoting safer internet use. These include the ‘Safer Digital Ghana’ campaign, enhanced legislative frameworks, and the integration of digital literacy programmes in schools across the country.

She further noted Ghana’s collaboration with global technology firms such as Meta and Google, which are supporting efforts to create a safer online environment for young users.
Mrs Mahama reaffirmed her dedication to advancing policies and initiatives that ensure children are protected in digital spaces, stressing that technology must remain a tool for empowerment, education, and opportunity for future generations.
The summit brought together influential voices from across the world, reinforcing the urgent need for global cooperation in tackling digital threats facing children while promoting responsible innovation.
