Police in Tema have arrested four suspects after discovering 315 compressed parcels of substances believed to be Indian hemp concealed in a truck.
The operation, carried out by officers of the Tema Community 1 District Police on Monday, September 8, 2025, followed a tip-off about suspicious activity at the Community 1 Industrial Area.
The suspects, identified as Nura Sali (44), Pius Chukwuma (49), Mustapha Umar (18), and Abdulai Amayau (23), were found transporting the suspected narcotics in a truck with registration number GN 7291-16. Police say the parcels had been carefully hidden in the vehicle’s tyres to avoid detection.

The truck was intercepted and impounded during the operation, and the suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
In a statement, the Tema Regional Police Command praised the arresting officers for their professionalism and assured the public of its determination to fight drug-related crimes.
“We remain committed to safeguarding our communities by tackling narcotics trafficking and associated criminal activities,” said ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs, Tema Regional Police Command.
The Command further urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station for swift action.
