FIRST BATCH OF GHANA ARMED FORCES RECRUITS TO BEGIN TRAINING

The Ghana Armed Forces has announced the completion of the selection process for the first batch of recruits for its 2026 enlistment exercise, with two thousand (2,000) individuals successfully shortlisted.

According to a statement released by the military, the selected recruits—who form the first of four batches—have been invited to report to their respective regional selection centres across all 16 regions of the country. They are expected to pick up their appointment letters and prospectus on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 0900 hours.

The Armed Forces also encouraged applicants who were deferred at the medical screening stage due to treatable conditions to seek appropriate medical care. These individuals will be given another opportunity to undergo medical review at a later date at no cost.

In a notable development, the first batch includes 18 individuals who sustained injuries during the El-Wak Stadium stampede last year. Additionally, five recruits were sponsored by families of victims who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

The military expressed appreciation to all 16 Regional Administrations for their support, which enabled the decentralisation of the recruitment process in line with government policy aimed at bringing enlistment closer to applicants nationwide.

Assuring the public of fairness and transparency, the Ghana Armed Forces urged remaining applicants to remain patient as selection continues for the remaining batches. It also noted that a significant number of candidates performed exceptionally well in the aptitude tests and will be considered for future recruitment exercises beyond this year.

Furthermore, the military disclosed that it is considering a directive to facilitate recruitment for individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region who assisted in rescue efforts during last year’s helicopter crash, with possible inclusion in the second batch of training.

The Ghana Armed Forces reaffirmed its commitment to building a disciplined and capable force while ensuring inclusivity and recognition for acts of bravery and national service.
