Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has called on Ghanaians to embrace unity, hope and responsible leadership as the nation enters the new year.
In a New Year message to the nation, Dr. Adutwum described the beginning of the year as more than a change of dates, but an opportunity for reflection, renewed hope and a recommitment to building the Ghana citizens believe in and deserve.
Reflecting on the past year, he acknowledged the economic challenges faced by many Ghanaians, including concerns about livelihoods and the future of children. He noted that these difficulties had tested the nation, but praised citizens for demonstrating resilience across homes, markets, religious institutions, farms and workplaces.

According to Dr. Adutwum, the perseverance shown by Ghanaians throughout the year reaffirmed that resilience remains a core part of the country’s national character.
Speaking as a teacher, public servant and patriot, he expressed strong confidence in Ghana’s potential, emphasizing his belief in a country where opportunity is based on hard work rather than background. He stressed the need for an education system that goes beyond examination success to equip young people with practical skills to innovate, create jobs and compete on the global stage.
He further called for a shift in the country’s political culture, urging leaders and citizens alike to move away from politics of insults and division towards politics grounded in ideas, performance and unity. Ghana’s ethnic, religious and political diversity, he said, should be seen as a strength when dialogue and national progress are prioritized.
Dr. Adutwum outlined a vision of a Ghana where education remains the strongest pathway out of poverty, teachers are respected and motivated, agriculture is modernized, industry is strengthened and technology is fully harnessed to drive economic growth and job creation. He also stressed the importance of accountable governance and the prudent use of public resources.
Addressing the youth, he encouraged them to pursue their ambitions with discipline and confidence, assuring them that their ideas can transform the nation with the right leadership and support. He also acknowledged the critical role of women in national development and praised elders for their guidance and experience.
He urged Ghanaians to choose hope over fear, unity over division and action over excuses, reminding citizens that nation-building is a shared responsibility that requires commitment from both leaders and the governed.
Dr. Adutwum concluded by reaffirming his commitment to serve with integrity, vision and competence, expressing optimism that the new year will bring peace, progress and renewed confidence in Ghana’s future.
“Together, let us build a Ghana that works for everyone,” he said, adding his prayers for God’s blessings on the nation.
