The Parliament of Ghana has announced a change in the date and venue for the much-anticipated second edition of the Democracy Cup match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics.
The high-profile encounter, initially scheduled for Thursday, 29th August 2025, will now take place on Friday, 5th September 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
According to Parliament, under the leadership of the Rt Hon Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the rescheduling was made after careful consideration to ensure optimal facilities, security, and a better overall experience for players, supporters, and stakeholders.

The University of Ghana Sports Stadium was chosen for its modern amenities and spacious environment, deemed more suitable to host the city-rival clash.
The Democracy Cup, an annual initiative of Parliament, is aimed at using the power of football to promote democratic values, unity, and civic engagement across the nation. The tournament brings together some of Ghana’s biggest football clubs to foster peaceful competition and national development.
Parliament has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the changes and has urged fans, media, and the general public to take note of the new arrangements.
