EPA commences 2025 compliance enforcement in Tongu, Keta Areas 

The Sogakope Area Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has announced the commencement of its 2025 compliance enforcement exercise across six districts within its jurisdiction in September 2025.  The exercise will cover the Keta Municipal; Akatsi South Municipal; Anloga, South Tongu, North Tongu and Central Tongu Districts.  According to the authority, the exercise forms part of efforts to ensure strict adherence to environmental laws, including the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124), Environmental Assessment Regulations, 1999 (LI 1652), the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2022 (Act 1080), and the Hazardous Electronic and Other Wastes (Classification), Control and Management Regulations, 2016 (LI 2250).  Mr. Derick Ashia Logo,...

President Mahama Removes Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo from Office

President John Dramani Mahama has removed the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkonoo, from office with immediate effect. The decision, according to a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, was taken in accordance with Article 146(9) of the 1992 Constitution. It follows the submission of a report by a committee constituted under Article 146(6) of the Constitution to investigate a petition brought forward by a Ghanaian citizen, Mr. Daniel Ofori. Mahama moves to restore calm in Sawla, Bole; engages Yagbonwura

SOEs in financial and allied services lead growth, SIGA report reveals

The Centre for Local Government Advocacy (CLGA) has proposed measures to assess and request accountability from District, Municipal and Metropolitan assemblies. The CLGA highlighted the disconnect between grand development plans and their implementation on the ground, stressing the lack of awareness among residents of Metropolitan, Municipal and   District Assemblies (MMDAs). PURC inaugurates four mechanised boreholes at Bongo-Dua
