Tema Mpox patient fully recovered, discharged – Health Directorate

The Tema Metropolitan Health Directorate has revealed that the metropolis' one confirmed Mpox (formerly known as Monkey Pox case has fully recovered and been discharged from isolation.  Dr Sally Quartey, Tema Metro Director of Health Services, disclosed this to the GNA in an interview.  Dr Quartey noted that Tema confirmed a case of MPOX on June 21, 2025, adding that the patient was subsequently isolated according to protocols after discharge from the hospital.  She added that the patient has “fully recovered and been discharged from isolation”.  The directorate noted that contacts listed at the health facility visited by the patient, as well as the place of work and residence, were followed up from the last day of contact with the case.  “They have all b...

Activista Ghana intensifies campaign on youth participation in community development

School girls in Assin South District benefit from DCE’s sanitary pads initiative

Mr Jonathan Birikorang, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin South has donated over 2,000 sanitary pads to 100 public basic and 36 private schools to promote menstrual dignity and hygiene. Some of the beneficiary schools included Sibinso Catholic, Nyankumasi Ahenkro 'A' and 'B', Nyankumasi Ahenkro Methodist, Odumasi D/A Basic School and many others. NEDCo rallies public support to tackle meter theft, illegal connections

Misorňu Safety Centre proposes measures to curb unsafe use of musketry during celebrations 

The Misorňu Safety Centre, a public service NGO that promotes safety, has raised concern over the dangerous use of musketry during festivals, funerals, and other public events.  In a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency, in Accra, and signed by the founder and Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (rtd) David Eklu, the Centre, therefore, recommended some measures to address the situation.   The Centre advised event organisers to work with the police to clear musketeers and give them safety briefings.  They should also use only licensed firearms and trained handlers.  Musketeers, it said, should be banned from taking alcohol, while organisers should assign coordinators to monitor safety distances and ensure safe firing zones are marked. ...
