National Security seizes stash of US dollars, gold bars/counterfeit currency in warehouse   

The National Security has busted and seized a large, unspecified amount of United States dollars and Ghana Cedis, including counterfeits, hidden in 12  20-footer shipping containers.    A statement issued by the National Security, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the containers were tracked to a warehouse in Ofankor, Ga South Municipality, where a special operation was conducted after a tip-off.   It noted that the cleverly concealed currency, mostly bundles of US dollars, was found in wooden boxes filled with cement.    It said other boxes opened in the warehouse during the sting operation revealed extra currencies stashed in the boxes that were barricaded with plywood and ceiled with charcoal.    According to the ...

Berekum Police investigate ‘Thursday Market’ robbery

Police in Berekum are investigating a robbery that took place at a shop at the Berekum 'Thursday Market' in the Bono Region. Thieves broke into the provision shop and made away with undisclosed sums of money and other valuables on Thursday night February 6, 2025. A police source who confirmed the incident told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that no arrest had since been made and police investigations were on-going. The Tema Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has held a send-off ceremony for 23 senior officers who have retired from active service. The event was held to honour the contributions of the officers who have played a crucial role in ensuring fire safety and emergency response in Ghana. GWCL restores water supplies to Ho and its environs

Use of mosquito nets on food can lead to contamination

Mr Anderson Obeng Amoako, Ada-East District Malaria Focal Person, has warned the public against using malaria nets for fishing and covering of food since it can contaminate the food. Mr Amoako explained that the chemicals used to manufacture the mosquito-treated nets could pose serious health risks to those who consume such foods.
