Electric buses will be piloted on Adentan-Accra and Ashaiman-Accra routes – Bawumia

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned the first batch of electric buses to enhance public transportation in the country. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says, the introduction of the electric buses is expected to reduce transport fares by 40 to 50 percent. One hundred of the electric buses were commissioned on November 27.  More than one hundred head potters, popularly called ‘ kayakyei,” have been trained to manage the electric buses. During the commissioning of the electric buses on Wednesday, 27th November, a trained Kayayoo (Head porter) bus driver took Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on a ride through town. The occasion marked the graduation ceremony of a special programme aimed at equipping Kayayei (female head porters) with driving skills to enhance their employability and improve their livelihoo. University of Ghana opens maiden “Artify” visual arts exhibition
