Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has expressed deep sorrow following a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of two Aduana Stars FC supporters and left two others injured after the two clubs’ recent encounter in Kumasi.
In an official statement signed by IMC Chairman Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, the club described the news as “profoundly saddening and devastating,” noting that the entire Kotoko family—including the Interim Management Committee, technical team, players, and supporters—had been shaken by the tragedy.
Kotoko emphasized that football is meant to unite people and build bonds, making the loss even more painful for both clubs and the wider Ghanaian football community.

“We extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the bereaved families, the loved ones of the departed souls, the entire Aduana Stars FC fraternity, their supporters, and the people of Dormaa Ahenkro,” the statement read. The club added that the death of fans who were returning home after passionately supporting their team is “an immense loss we feel deeply.”
The Porcupine Warriors also wished the injured supporters a swift and full recovery, assuring them and their families of their thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.
Asante Kotoko reaffirmed its solidarity with Aduana Stars, stressing that although the two clubs share a fierce rivalry on the pitch, the humanity they share off it is far more significant.
“We pray that the Almighty grants the souls of the departed eternal rest and strengthens all who are affected by this irreplaceable loss,” the club said.
