Over 900 widows in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region have received food items from the Alexiboam Foundation to support their Christmas celebration.
The donation, estimated over one million Ghana cedis, included bags of rice, cooking oil and mackerel.
The items were provided by Mr. Alex Boampong, Chief Executive Officer of Alexiboam Construction Limited, and founder of the Foundation as part of efforts to support poor and vulnerable widows during the Christmas festivities.

Alexiboam Foundation is a local charitable organisation in the Ahafo Regions assisting the needy.
Widows from five communities, including Atronie, Atuahenekrom, Wamahinso, Gyedu, and Ntotroso, benefited from the gesture.
Mrs. Alice Pokuaa Boampong, wife of Mr Boampong said the initiative aims to ensure that widows in the district could celebrate Christmas with dignity.
She explained that she and the husband have been undertaking similar charitable activities for the past 10 years, emphasising that they could not enjoy the festive season while many widows in the community struggle to afford a decent meal.
“The initiative is targeted at ensuring that widows in the district are able to celebrate Christmas in dignity,” Mrs. Boampong said.
She encouraged the widows to remain hopeful and have faith in God and called on the government to expand the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme to cover more widows who were struggling to make ends meet.
The Head Pastor of Global Church of God Ministries in Sunyani, Reverend Eric Yeboah Asamoah, commended the gesture, noting that the Bible encouraged care for widows as “The Bible says we should care for the widows and the orphans which is a great example of the donation.”
The Assemblyman for the Ntotroso Electoral Area, Mr Nicolas Omane Acheampong, applauded Mr. Alex Boampong and his family for their continuous support to widows over the past decade.
He appealed to the government to expand the LEAP programme to benefit more widows and vulnerable persons in society.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their joy and appreciation for the support, offering prayers and blessings for Mr Alex Boampong and his family for their generosity. “We are grateful for the support which means a lot to us”.
