The Africa Governance Centre has joined the nation in mourning the tragic loss of eight distinguished Ghanaians who perished in a military helicopter crash, including two serving Cabinet Ministers.
In a statement signed by its Communications Director, Mrs. Victoria Moonn Cyriacus, the Centre expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Ghana. The organisation also conveyed its solidarity with President John Dramani Mahama as he leads the country through what it described as “a dark hour.”
“The loss of two trusted members of his Cabinet is not only a personal blow, but also a profound disruption to the leadership and governance of the country,” the statement read.

The Africa Governance Centre praised the fallen officials for their enormous contributions to national service, urging that their legacies be honoured with integrity, accountability, and a renewed commitment to the values they championed.
“As an institution dedicated to advancing ethical leadership and accountable governance across Africa, we stand with the Government and people of Ghana in mourning. We offer our prayers and support as the nation reflects, heals, and recommits to the ideals of service and unity,” Mrs. Cyriacus added.
The statement concluded with a tribute to the eight “gallant individuals,” wishing them eternal rest and expressing hope that their memories would inspire future generations of African leaders.
The tragic crash has plunged Ghana into mourning, with flags flying at half-mast and tributes pouring in from across the nation and beyond.
