Three Arrested Over Murder and Causing Harm at Gbiniyiri

Three individuals have been arrested in connection with a murder and assault incident at Gbiniyiri in the Savannah Region, following a joint operation by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Intelligence Team and the Savannah Regional Police Command.

The suspects, identified as Yaw Bamuah, Yaa Bokaa, and Kuma Simpor, were apprehended on March 14, 2026.

According to police sources, preliminary investigations revealed that suspect Yaw Bamuah admitted involvement in the attack during interrogation. He also named several alleged accomplices—Anuda Borour, Pobiye, Bitunor Sansa, and James Sanyuah—who are currently on the run and being actively pursued by law enforcement authorities.

Further disclosures by the suspect indicated that the attack was carried out as an act of retaliation. He claimed it followed the killing of a relative, whom they believed had been attacked by robbers suspected to be Fulani.

Police say Yaw Bamuah subsequently led officers to his residence in Gbiniyiri, where a single-barrel shotgun with serial number BAT 2598-88 and two live AAA cartridges were retrieved from a concealed location within the compound.

The three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court soon.

Meanwhile, the police have intensified efforts to track down and arrest the remaining suspects linked to the incident as part of ongoing operations to ensure justice and maintain peace in the area.
