With two days to go before the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) conducts the official draw for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 finals, three legends who will take part in the ceremony have been confirmed, with one each from co-hosts Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The draw will be conducted on Wednesday, 15 January at the Kenyatta International Conventional Centre in Nairobi, Kenya at 20h00 local time (17h00 GMT / 19h00 Cairo time). CAF President Dr Motsepe begins two-day tour of CHAN 2024 Host Nations in Tanzania on Thursday

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) President Dr Patrice Motsepe began his two-day tour of the nations that will host the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) with a visit to Tanzania on Thursday, 19 December 2024. Dr Motsepe visited Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar on Thursday. He will travel to Kenya and Uganda on Friday where he will meet with the Heads of State and football leadership in the two countries. In Tanzania, the CAF President visited the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam where he inspected its readiness to host matches in the CHAN competition. This renewed urgency follows a news report on UNAIDS' latest 95-95-95 epidemic control progress report, which states that six African nations, alongside Kenya, have met testing and treatment targets for the general population. According to the report, Kenya has achieved 95-95-90 against a target of 95-90-86—meaning that 95% of people know their HIV status, 95% are on treatment, and 90% have achieved viral load suppression. Another fan was injured as the guard opened fire on a large crowd of jubilant supporters at a restaurant in Lukaya town in central Uganda, about 100km (62 miles) from the capital Kampala.
