© AFP / Getty Images In a landmark decision, World Athletics has today (10 April) announced it will become the first international federation to award prize money at an Olympic Games, financially rewarding athletes for achieving the pinnacle of sporting success, starting at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. A total prize pot of US$2.4 million has been ring fenced from the International Olympic Committee’s revenue share allocation, which is received by World Athletics every four years. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the winner of the 2020/2021 MTN FA Cup will receive GH₵80,000.00 prize money and Gh₵2,000.00 worth of airtime whilst the runner-up takes home GH₵30,000.00 plus airtime. It said, all the 92 clubs that participated in the preliminary round are entitled to an appearance fee of GH₵1,500.00 in cash and GH₵500.00 worth of MTN airtime. Also, teams who advanced to the round of 64 would be entitled to GH₵3,000.00 in cash and Gh₵500.00 worth of airtime.
