World Athletics introduces prize money for Olympic gold medallists

© AFP / Getty Images In a landmark decision, World Athletics has today (10 April) announced it will become the first international federation to award prize money at an Olympic Games, financially rewarding athletes for achieving the pinnacle of sporting success, starting at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. A total prize pot of US$2.4 million has been ring fenced from the International Olympic Committee’s revenue share allocation, which is received by World Athletics every four years. This will be used to reward athletes who win a gold medal in each of the 48 athletics events in Paris with US$50,000. MTN FA Cup winner to receive GH₵80,000.00 prize money

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the winner of the 2020/2021 MTN FA Cup will receive GH₵80,000.00 prize money and Gh₵2,000.00 worth of airtime whilst the runner-up takes home GH₵30,000.00 plus airtime. It said, all the 92 clubs that participated in the preliminary round are entitled to an appearance fee of GH₵1,500.00 in cash and GH₵500.00 worth of MTN airtime. Also, teams who advanced to the round of 64 would be entitled to GH₵3,000.00 in cash and Gh₵500.00 worth of airtime. An amount of GH₵1,000,000.00 would be presented to the winning Club ahead of their participation in the Africa Club championship.
