Police Arrest 77 Suspects in Anti-Drug Operation in Tamale and Savelugu
The Ghana Police Service has arrested seventy-seven (77) suspects in a major anti-drug operation carried out in the Tamale Metropolis and the Savelugu Municipality.
The operation, led by the Northern Regional Police Command’s Special Operations Team, popularly known as Red Maria, took place on Monday, March 23, 2026, at about 9:30 p.m. A total of thirty-three (33) police personnel were deployed for the exercise, which forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on drug peddling and related criminal activities in the region.
