GNFS Responds to Tragic Drowning of 6-Year-Old Girl at Kpetoe–Sonitra
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Kpetoe Command, has confirmed a tragic drowning incident involving a six-year-old girl, Sarah Ahiafor, at Sonitra, a suburb of Kpetoe.
According to the Service, the distress call was received at about 1:40 p.m., prompting an immediate response by a team led by Assistant Station Officer (ASTNO) David Dzakah. Fire personnel swiftly mobilised and carried out a search and rescue operation at the scene.
The body of the child was retrieved from the water; however, all attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. The remains were subsequently handed over to the Ghana Police Service at the scene for preservation and further investigations.
