Western Region NDC Chairman lauds President for nominating Nelson as Western Regional Minister  

Nana Kojo Toku, Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for nominating Mr Joseph Nelson as the Western Regional Minister.   According to him, Mr Nelson has the expertise and would bring fresh ideas to the table to build on the progress made by the past government in the region.   In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the new appointment, Nana Toku said, "l have worked with Mr Nelson for 12 years in the region as the regional secretary of the NDC. Mahama hails Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s contributions towards national development

Government will abolish E-Levy in its first budget- Dr Ato Forson

The Minister of Finance designate, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has promised to abolish the e-levy in the first budget of the government. Speaking during his appearance at the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, he said “my position on the e-levy is not new. It has not changed and I still stand by my position to abolish it”. Dr Ato Forson said his position on the e-levy does not mean that he does not appreciate the need for revenue. He added “however, the e-levy is neither a direct, an indirect or excise tax”. The Government has promised to add one more holiday to the Eid al-Fitr national holiday and reduce Hajj fares to enable more Moslems to participate in the annual pilgrimage.
