IGP Leads Delegation to Bawku After Violent Incident Claims Life

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has led a high-powered delegation to Bawku following a violent clash between some youth and the police that left one person dead and several others injured. The delegation, which includes officers from operations, investigations, and intelligence units, is in the Upper East town to gain first-hand insight into the security situation and to assess the needs on the ground. Five Arrested for Illegal Mining in Central North Region

The Central North Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of five individuals in connection with illegal mining activities on the River Fum at Assin Ayitey, a farming community near Assin Akonfudi in the Assin North Constituency. Two Arrested for Transporting Suspected Stolen ECG Cables in Central Region

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the transportation of electricity cables believed to belong to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). The suspects, Mohammed Sulemana and Iddrisu Basit, both driver’s mates of an articulated truck, were apprehended on April 1, 2025, at Gomoa Awombrew in the Central Region. The truck, bearing registration number GC 7410-11, was found loaded with 28 rims of ECG cables and parked in the area under suspicious circumstances. The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of being involved in the brutal robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region. Police Arrest Another Suspect in Violent Disturbances During Nsoatreman FC vs. Asante Kotoko Match

In relation to the violent incidents that broke out during the February 2, 2025, football game between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC, the Ghana Police Service has detained an additional suspect. The suspect was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation and was identified as Elizabeth Akosua Ntiriwaa, also known as Akosua Black Chinese.
