The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a robbery gang believed to have been operating in parts of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
According to police, the arrests were made on 15 February 2026 during an intelligence-led operation at Mangoase near Pokukrom. Officers conducted coordinated raids on several suspected hideouts linked to the group.
The suspects — Aziz Abubakar, also known as Romeo, Faraway Amari, and Patient Asare — were apprehended during the operation.

Police say items retrieved from the suspects include a pump-action gun with ammunition, machetes, a bayonet, combat boots, one 9mm round of ammunition, and cash amounting to GH¢20,000. The money is suspected to be proceeds from criminal activities.
Preliminary investigations have also linked two of the suspects to a 2025 incident in Bechem within the Bono Region, where three people lost their lives. Police say efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices and recover additional weapons.
Authorities have assured the public that operations will continue to ensure safety and maintain law and order in affected communities.
