Police Crack Down on Criminal Activities in Senya Beraku

The Central East Regional Police Command has carried out a major intelligence-led operation in Senya Beraku in the Central Region, leading to the arrest of 13 suspects believed to be involved in various criminal activities.

The operation, which took place on December 17, 2025, targeted three different locations within the Senya Beraku enclave. The first stop was Kukwado, a coastal community, where six suspects were arrested. Police retrieved substances suspected to be Indian hemp along with other related items from the suspects.

At a second location, a yellow house situated near a cemetery, four suspects — including a female — were apprehended. Items retrieved during the search included dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a local alcoholic beverage known as akpeteshie (laka), a 32-inch television set, and assorted brands of cigarettes.

The police team later moved to Awiaso, where three more suspects, including a female, were arrested. Exhibits found at this location included dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a toy gun, shisha, local gin, and a game pot. Following the operation, the suspects’ hideout at Awiaso was set ablaze by the police team.

In total, 13 suspects were arrested across the three locations. They were identified as Michael Essel (23), Frederick Koranteng (23), James Essel (24), Jones Koranteng (20), Daniel Essibu (30), Kofi Abbiw (28), Kofi Essibu (57), Klotey Poree (26), Bismark Sarbeng (26), Kojo Otoo (24), Thomas Quartey (22), Gladys Jackson (19), and Florence Adenue (25).

Meanwhile, the suspects and all exhibits retrieved during the operation are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. The police have reaffirmed their commitment to clamping down on criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of residents in the Central Region.
