Police Arrest Woman Featured in Viral Assault Video

Ghana’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has intensified his crackdown on cyber-enabled crimes, following the arrest of a woman seen in a widely circulated video physically attacking a man.

The suspect, Esther Nana Afia Sarfowaa, was apprehended on Wednesday, 27th November 2025, by the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team at Subriso, in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

A second individual, Stephen Ofori, was also arrested at Nkawie in the Ashanti Region for his alleged involvement in the same incident.

According to the Ghana Police Service, both suspects are currently in lawful custody, assisting with investigations as authorities continue efforts to capture three additional suspects who remain on the run.

The Police Service reassured the public of its resolve, stating:

“We are committed to ensuring that all perpetrators involved in this disturbing incident are brought to justice.”

The Service further urged the public to remain calm and confident in its work, while calling for cooperation in providing any information that could assist in locating the remaining suspects.

This arrest once again highlights the growing role of digital evidence, citizen videos, and cyber monitoring in aiding law enforcement to respond swiftly to public concerns and violent misconduct captured online.

𝘛he Police noted that further updates will be communicated as investigations progress, and emphasised that no individual is above the law.
