The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals for allegedly possessing a large quantity of counterfeit U.S. dollar notes at Larsi, a community in Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern Region.
According to a statement from the Eastern Regional Command, the suspects—Ebenezer Narh-Tsu, 20; George Attor, 48; and Bishop Robert Olertey, 54—were apprehended on March 11, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Odumase-Krobo District Police.
The operation led officers to a hideout in Larsi, where they retrieved 105 bundles of suspected forged $100 notes reportedly concealed in a student’s trunk.

Police further disclosed that one of the suspects, Bishop Robert Olertey, allegedly attempted to bribe the arresting officers with an amount of GH₵20,000. The officers declined the offer and proceeded with the arrest, subsequently handing the suspects over to the Akosombo Divisional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigations.
On March 13, 2026, Ebenezer Narh-Tsu was arraigned before the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court on a motion for notice of detention. He was granted bail in the sum of GH₵100,000 with two sureties and has been directed to report to the police every Monday for two weeks to assist with ongoing investigations.
The two other suspects have also been granted police enquiry bail as investigations continue.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious when handling foreign currencies, particularly U.S. dollars, to avoid falling victim to counterfeit schemes that could result in financial losses.
