IGP Announces Major Command Changes Within the Ghana Police Service

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has announced a series of high-level command changes within the Ghana Police Service, affecting several senior officers at the national and regional levels.

According to an official statement, the postings take immediate effect and form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance leadership effectiveness, and improve service delivery across the Service.

National Headquarters Reassignments

At the National Headquarters, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba has been reassigned from Director General/Technical to Director General/National Arms and Protection Department (NAPD). In a related move, COP Mr. Iddi Lansah Seidu has been transferred from Director General/Welfare to Director General/Technical.

Additionally, COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba has been moved from Director General/Operations to Director General/Research and Planning (R&P), while COP Mr. Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe takes over as Director General/Operations, having previously served as Director General/Professional Policing Standards Bureau (PPSB).

Completing the reshuffle at headquarters, DCOP Mr. Darko Offei Lomotey has been reassigned from Director General/Research and Planning to Director General/Professional Policing Standards Bureau, while DCOP Mr. Eric Ken Winful moves from Director General/NAPD to Director General/Welfare.

Regional Command Changes

At the regional level, DCOP Mr. Charles K. Adu has been transferred from Regional Commander, Central Region, to Regional Commander, Eastern South Region (ESR). DCOP Mr. George B. Ohene Boadi, who previously served as Regional Commander, Eastern South Region, has been reassigned to the Central Region.

Meanwhile, DCOP Mr. Isaac Asante, formerly Regional Commander, Eastern North Region (ENR), has been posted to the National Headquarters. DCOP Mr. George Ankomah, previously in charge of Central MTTD in the Ashanti Region, has been appointed Regional Commander, Eastern North Region.

In another key change, DCOP Mr. Alex Kodjo Wowolo has been moved from Director of ICT at the National Headquarters to serve as Officer-in-Charge of the Central Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in the Ashanti Region.

Commitment to Professional Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, expressed confidence that the affected officers will bring renewed commitment and professionalism to their new roles as the Service continues to pursue reforms aimed at enhancing public safety and operational excellence.
