The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has confirmed that forty-four Ghanaian nationals have been successfully rescued from a fraudulent recruitment operation in Nigeria.
The rescue follows an earlier public warning issued on March 13, 2026, cautioning against the activities of QNET and similar schemes that lure unsuspecting individuals with false promises.
According to the Ministry, the victims were deceived through social media platforms and informal recruitment channels with offers of lucrative employment and international travel opportunities. However, upon arrival in Nigeria, they were subjected to harsh and exploitative conditions, including restricted movement, psychological pressure, and coercion to recruit others into the scheme.

The victims were freed during a coordinated operation carried out on March 16, 2026, by Nigerian security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with Ghanaian authorities. They safely arrived in Accra on March 20, 2026.
The Government of Ghana is currently working closely with Nigerian counterparts and other stakeholders to dismantle the criminal network behind the operation. Efforts are also underway to provide support services for the victims, including protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government for its swift intervention and continued cooperation in addressing the issue.
Reiterating its strong stance against human trafficking and fraudulent recruitment, the government urged the public to remain vigilant. Citizens are advised to verify all job and travel opportunities through official channels and avoid dealing with unverified individuals or organizations.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Ghanaian nationals both within the country and abroad.
