A special joint security operation conducted by the Bono Regional Police Command in collaboration with the 3rd Infantry Battalion (3BN) and the Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI) has led to the recovery of eight assorted firearms and the arrest of 24 suspects in Sampa Township.
The coordinated exercise, carried out in the early hours of 21st March 2026, formed part of ongoing efforts by the regional security agencies to rid the area of illegal weapons and criminal elements.
According to the Bono Regional Police Command, the operation resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of weapons and items, including five pump-action guns, one Baikal gun, two locally manufactured firearms, and 790 rounds of AAA and BB cartridges. Other items retrieved include one AK-47 ammunition round, machetes, bayonets, clubs, knives, foreign military jackets, body armour, assorted mobile phones, motorbikes, and ritual-related items among others.

In addition, security personnel recovered seven pairs of boots, six whiskers, one official stamp marked “Nana Samgba Gyafla II President Sampa Traditional Council,” a torchlight, a chisel, pliers, a rickshaw, and a quantity of talisman.
A total of 24 suspects were arrested during the operation, including individuals aged between 13 and 78 years. They are currently in police custody assisting investigations.
Two of the suspects, identified as Sie Emmanuel and Mensah Kofi Emmanuel, were specifically arrested for breaching curfew regulations.
The security agencies have confirmed that preparations are underway to prosecute the suspects as investigations continue.
The Bono Regional Police Command has meanwhile urged the public to continue providing credible intelligence to support ongoing efforts to combat illegal arms possession and enhance security within the region.
