Ghanaians from across the country, including government officials, traditional leaders, and members of the public, gathered at the national ceremonial grounds to pay their final respects to the former First Lady, who played a major role in Ghana’s political and social history.

In a short statement issued after the ceremony, Dr. Bawumia expressed his condolences to the family and the nation, describing the event as one that brought together Ghanaians from all walks of life.

“Hajia Samira and I, earlier today, joined Ghanaians at the Black Star Square for the state funeral of the late H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady of the Republic. May her soul rest in peace,” he said.
The funeral forms part of national activities to honour the former First Lady for her service and influence, particularly in championing women’s development and national empowerment.
Security was tight at the Square, while the ceremony maintained a solemn atmosphere filled with tributes, cultural displays, and traditional funeral rites.
