Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman joined national leaders, dignitaries, and citizens on Friday at the state funeral of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, where she paid glowing tribute to the former First Lady’s exceptional service to the nation.
In a heartfelt message shared earlier in the day, the Vice President described the event as a solemn moment of honour, highlighting Nana Konadu’s remarkable life, her deep commitment to Ghana, and her unwavering dedication to empowering young girls through education.
“It was a solemn moment to honour her remarkable life, her service to Ghana, and her enduring commitment to the empowerment and education of the girl child,” she stated.

The ceremony, attended by family, friends, government officials, traditional rulers, and citizens, reflected national appreciation for Nana Konadu’s contributions, particularly her advocacy for women’s leadership, youth development, and improved access to education for girls.
Vice President Opoku-Agyeman extended her condolences to the bereaved family, praying for comfort and strength for her children and loved ones in their time of grief.
“May her children and family be comforted by her remarkable life. May her legacy continue to inspire our nation. And may her soul rest in perfect peace,” she added.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, a celebrated educationist, politician, and founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, is widely remembered for championing women’s rights and shaping policies that encouraged girl-child education and empowerment in Ghana and beyond.
Her burial marks the end of a powerful era in Ghana’s history, but her legacy, many leaders noted, will continue to influence national conversations on gender equality and education reform.
Ghanaians across the country have since echoed emotional tributes, celebrating her life as one filled with purpose, service, and impact.
