The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Francis Alidu, for his alleged involvement in the unlawful possession of narcotic drugs, in violation of Section 37(1) of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020 (Act 1019).
According to a police statement signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs, the arrest followed intelligence shared by the Ho Police Command on Friday, 31st October 2025, at about 9:10 p.m.
The information indicated that a commercial bus driver had earlier been arrested in Ho with quantities of compressed substances suspected to be Indian hemp, and that the intended receiver of the consignment was located in Ashaiman.

Upon receiving the tip-off, officers from the Ashaiman District Police Command tracked and apprehended the suspect, Francis Alidu, at his hideout in Ashaiman.
During interrogation, Alidu received a phone call from another commercial driver who informed him that a sack of cassava meant for him had been dropped off in front of the KFC Ashaiman branch.
Police officers immediately moved to the scene and retrieved the sack, which was brought to the station. A search conducted in the presence of the suspect revealed eighteen (18) compressed slabs suspected to be Indian hemp concealed among the cassava.
The police say the suspect is currently assisting with investigations and efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals connected to the case. He will be handed over to the Ho Regional Police Command to aid in further investigations.
