Mahama Visits Tidal Wave-Hit Fuveme, Promises Coastal Protection Measures
Former President John Dramani Mahama has visited Fuveme in Ghana’s Volta Region to assess the devastation caused by recent tidal waves and engage affected residents on urgent relief efforts and long-term solutions.
During the visit, Mr. Mahama expressed concern over the recurring impact of coastal erosion and flooding on livelihoods in the area. He assured residents that both immediate and sustainable interventions are being prioritized to protect vulnerable communities.
He highlighted that Fuveme is among the beneficiary areas under the West Africa Coastal Areas Management Program, a World Bank-supported initiative valued at $150 million. The program is designed to address coastal degradation and tidal wave threats across several at-risk communities in the region.
