The Northern Regional Police Command has restored calm at the Tamale Technical University (TaTU) following a violent student protest on Tuesday morning. According to police, intelligence indicated that around 9:00 a.m., about 500 students massed in front of the school’s administration block to stage an unlawful demonstration. The protest escalated when students set vehicle tyres ablaze at key locations, including the main entrance of the school from the Tamale Secondary School (TAMASCO) direction, the Police Post at Kpalsi, and directly in front of the administration block. Police Arrest Two More Suspects in Fuo Shooting Incident

The Northern Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of two additional suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of Yakubu Mohammed Habib, which occurred on February 26, 2025, at Fuo, a suburb of Tamale. The suspects, identified as Abdul-Majeed Abdulai and Abdul-Majeed Saeed, were apprehended on Saturday, May 24 and Monday, May 26, respectively, after being declared wanted by authorities for their alleged roles in the incident.
